The transmission fitted to the 6AA-RU3
Honda’s archived 2021 Vezel environmental specification lists the 6AA-RU3 hybrid with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Honda’s Hybrid RS material also describes a seven-speed automatic with paddle shift for the RS hybrid configuration.
Do not mix older RU3 campaigns with every RU3
Honda published a 2019 service campaign for earlier DAA-RU3 chassis ranges relating to transmission-control software. The supplied chassis for this listing is in the later RU3-140 series, outside the numeric ranges shown in that 2019 campaign. That does not replace a present-day diagnostic inspection.
What to observe on a test drive
From a cold start where practical, pay attention to warning messages, hesitation, unusual vibration, delayed engagement, harsh changes and whether the vehicle moves away cleanly after stopping. A short drive around a parking area is not enough to assess a transmission.
Use a scan and service information
A suitable diagnostic scan can reveal stored or pending faults that are not obvious during the viewing. Ask what transmission-related maintenance or software work is documented for the individual vehicle.
Questions buyers ask
Does the RU3 Vezel use a CVT?
Honda’s official 6AA-RU3 hybrid specifications identify a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, not the petrol-model CVT.
Was every RU3 included in Honda’s earlier DCT service campaign?
No. Honda published specific chassis ranges. The 2019 campaign ranges shown by Honda are earlier than this listing’s RU3-140 chassis sequence.
Can a clean test drive prove the transmission has no issue?
No. Road behaviour is one part of due diligence. Diagnostic scanning, warning-light checks and available service history add useful evidence.
